Alpe Marona

Alpe Marona, with its renovated mountain huts, is the only mountain pasture that is still frequented in this area. Like the other mountain pastures that descend from the Pizzo delle Pecore towards Vogogna, it was frequented until the 1940s, despite the difficult conditions of life,  poor pastures and lack of water. Water was the main problem: wells, cisterns and, as we can see when visiting the mountain pastures, many tanks were built for collecting and preserving the water; but sometimes they were not enough and in the periods of drought the few springs ran out and it was necessary to abandon the mountain pastures in advance.
