Piazza Secchi

- Donatella Nebuloni, 2018 -
The square is also called “del Buonconsiglio” because once the City Council met here. In the square there is the aedicula of the Madonna del Buonconsiglio: once it was in a more central position, then it was moved in 1914 when the square was enlarged and Albergo Milano was built. In the square there were the tobacconist’s, exactly where it is now, and the hairdresser, Samarati Casimiro, and a little further on the bakery and the butcher’s shop, as attested by the faded inscriptions on the houses. Before it became a square, there were only the street, the wall and the votive aedicula, behind which there were vegetable gardens. When the square was built in 1914, the vegetable gardens were removed and the aedicula was moved back, to create an open space. - Donatella Nebuloni, 2018 -
