Elemento caratteristico delle frazioni di San Bernardino Verbano sono i suoi numerosi pozzi, presenti in molte delle cantine delle abitazioni private più antiche e nel nucleo di Rovegro visibili lungo i vicoli acciottolati che si dipanano tra le case in pietra. I pozzi, profondi decine di metri, sono scavati nel terreno, hanno una struttura in pietra e un cestello legato ad una catena avvolta attorno ad una trave in legno, la quale mossa da mano umana fa scendere il secchio fino a raggiungere l’acqua presente in fondo, che sgorga naturalmente.
The characteristic elements of the hamlets of San Bernardino Verbano are the numerous wells, to be found in the cellars of the most ancient private houses and in the centre of Rovegro: they are visible along the cobbled alleys among the stone houses. The wells, tens of meters deep, are dug into the ground, have a stone structure and a basket tied to a chain wrapped around a wooden beam, which is moved manually and drops the bucket until it reaches the water on the bottom, which flows naturally.
